easy_e17.sh +e_dbus
« on: March 09, 2010, 02:10:46 AM »
job baited me to the source-version of e17 again. it did work fine.
today i tried to load module bling, it was not there, i searched for it and finally did
easy_e17.sh --srcupdate
i had to remove esmart and exchange, but now am stuck at this error-message:

Quote
ERR:e_dbus e_dbus.c:467 e_dbus_bus_get() Error connecting to bus: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

;D I am having issues with that same error right now trying to load a new install on my work laptop.
The last time I ran into this problem a dist-upgrade on Debian helped but I do not think that was really a fix.

The problem was solved for me by just waiting (i think you already know). I forgot to post it here. Sorry.

I am not sure, but i think you would be able to copy the backup of your running e17 over  to the laptop and point update-e17-script to it (check the help for restore from backup). As said: its just an idea and i am not sure. Might be nonsense.

FYI: The last time i tried i couldn't install e17 at all (neither from the script, nor from the enlightenment-repo, nor from the debian-sid repo). There was kind of a freeze in the debian-repos, so that might have been the problem.

I too seen this error with Debian Lenny (stable).

ERR:e_dbus e_dbus.c:467 e_dbus_bus_get() Error connecting to bus: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
/usr/bin/easy_e17.sh: line 766: 28085 Segmentation fault      $notifier -u "$urgency" -t 5000 -i "$install_path/share/enlightenment/data/images/enlightenment.png" -n "easy_e17.sh" "easy_e17.sh" "$text"

I just waited it out and finally the install completed. It did finally read that I had compiled E17 successfully. I will find out shortly.
