Welcome to Distropedia, your source for distro information.
Click the above title for a complete list of Distro News "Book Pages" or the "Distropedia" option on the left navigation panel.
Here you will find under the "Create Content" option many options, the two most important options are Distro Static "Page" and Distro News "Book Page".
Distro Static "Page"-is a static page which each distro should have a static Page, this should be your first option to creating content. The static distro page should include in depth information about each Distro and any relevant links; Homepage, forum, download page, current packages, etc.
Distro News "Book Page"-should be used to give a brief introduction about a distro, including any new release information, or relevant news about a distro. This "book Page" should include a link to the Distro static page.
Also when adding a "book page" select the "parent" to be "Distropedia, your source for distro information", this will keep a nice alphabetical list of entries on this page.
Keep in mind that Distropedia is not just about Linux distros, but also BSD, Haiku, or any other Open Source project. Including but not limited to KDE, GNOME, e17, GIMP, Pidgin, Compiz Fusion, etc.
Any registered Distropedian can add and edit content. All Developers of all Distros and Open Source projects are invited and encouraged to add and edit relevant information about their project.
Distropedia does not require an any wait time for a Distro to be included, we also do not require arbitrary notability, if you have a Distro project and your ISO is available for download your Distro will automatically be included. There is NOT any requirement to purchase ad space at Distropedia for your project to be taken seriously. In fact there are NO ads on Distropedia and there never will be, especially those annoying banner ads.
Welcome and enjoy, Distropedia is what you make it.
All Distropedians, admin staff, registered users and guest can discuss Distropedia stuff on IRC at Freenode: ##cafelinux
