Ubuntu 8.04, the "Hardy Heron" is now out. Matching Kubuntu, Xubuntu and UnbuntuStudio releases have also been released 8.04 is a "Long Term Support" version, meaning you are guaranteed essential updates for three years. There are lots of new features, both "under the hood" and throughout the vehicle, including the all important paintwork.

Sorry I haven't been around much lately but I realise its past time to get back to Distropedia.  Thanks be to fistfullofroses for his recent new post on a-Linux.

I'll use this Blog entry as a new to do list.

Top Priority: Main Distro Pages

The distro previously know as Uberyl has been released as Comfusion Version 1.0. To avoid confusion, Comfusion has Compiz-Fusion, wheras Uberyl had Beryl and both are based on Ubuntu.  See the updated Comfusion Main Page for download links.

Ancient Linux mythology has, as its central legend, a distro that emerges quickly and powerfully and delivers the masses from the clutches of the M(s)atrix. Debian, Mandriva, Fedora and SUSE have all been the subject of hopeful speculation in days gone by. In hushed tones and in back rooms around the globe, Linux users have recently been heard to wonder "Is Ubuntu The One?".

With any luck, this can be cut and pasted to the bottom of your static page in whatever html editor you are using.

 I thought I'd start this Blog with a list of the things I am thinking about adding to Distropedia. This is an evolving list and I would certainly welcome any comments or advice from other contributors - including letting me know if there are significant overlaps with work you plan to do! I figure that this way I will keep my own contributions flowing and hopefully won't be venturing into areas where others have more experience or expertise.
